Surface Finishes
CONSTRUCT who manufactured and installed the reference panels continue to maintain and update them. This is just one of several initiative by CONSTRUCT designed to remove obstacles to construction efficiency.
 
The definitions contained in BS 8110 and BS EN 13670 are extremely subjective. The physical references provided by the panels and their accompanying detail descriptions provide practical demonstration of the specified finish. As a result an example is provided of an acceptable finish to meet a specified standard and so obviate conflicting views between client, architect and other members of the project team. Descriptions of finish meet the requirement of NSCS editions 3 and 4.
The provision of the reference panels means that the whole project team can agree on an acceptable standard of finish both before and after the concrete is poured and should avoid much of the confrontation that has been experienced hitherto, saving both time and money as a result.
 
Six sets of panels have been made and have now been installed at regional centres throughout the UK.
All members of the construction industry are invited to use these panels free of charge but arrangements should ideally be made beforehand with the contact names listed.
